Funny How Things Work
I just got back from my second bookbinding workshop. I've been wracking my brain for a couple of months trying to figure out how I got into bookbinding to begin with. I was not able to gleen a definitive answer from my electronic journals as to when I actually started. I read in my 2006 journal in the April section how I wanted to take the leather journal workshop but was unable to because I kept missing it and there was no one to watch my kid. Then in August it talked about how I was working on binding a journal. I should have included more details and I am surprised that I didn't post anything in those four months that explained when I actually started and why. From what I've read, I believe it was because of two things: 1) I wanted to print and bind my electronic in something other than a comb bind and 2) I wanted to print out all of Dad's emails and bind them in different covers. I am so happy to be taking these workshops. I will discontinue going to the knitting guild meetings and start attending the artful evenings at the studio. This month they will be doing ATC cards. Not sure what the fascination is all about. I do know that I love being at the studio. It feels like being in art class. I love the structure. They have a plan for the classes unlike the guild meetings where you just show up and knit on your current project and endure halting and uncomfortable conversations. I will never go back. I can get my knitting fix with my circle of girls. |
